Layne Hampson | DANCER Intern

Ballet - My favourite ballets are ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘In the Middle Somewhat Elevated’.

Collect(ive) - I collect tickets to concerts or festivals I’ve attended because they remind me of good memories.

Aotearoa - My favourite place in Aotearoa is Wellington because it’s where I have all of my closest friends and the opportunity to dance in such amazing environments like the Ballet Collective Aotearoa.

Roots - I grew up in Lismore, Australia.

Training -  I trained at Karen Ireland Dance Centre from the age of 4-17. I moved over to Wellington in 2018 upon acceptance into the New Zealand School of Dance. I am currently in my third year at the school now.

Highlights - Some of my dance highlights include having the opportunity to attend the Ballet Cymru summer school in Wales. Performing the allegro soloist in Concerto Barocco in the New Zealand School of Dance graduation season. And now joining the Ballet Collective Aotearoa on internship.

Favourite Jam - I’m not really a jam kind of person but any song by Tame Impala is my jam.
